Formed by Donal Shiels in 2011, the company produces and promotes a diverse range of live theatre, music, comedy, and events in Ireland and internationally. Recent work includes the World premiere of Copper Face Jacks the Musical by Paul Howard (The Olympia Theatre); Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh (Olympia Theatre); Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo (Off Broadway & US tour, Gaiety Theatre & Irish tour) directed & adapted by Simon Reade. The Spinning Heart by Donal Ryan (Gaiety Theatre); The Weir by Conor McPherson (Gaiety Theatre); The Kings of The Kilburn High Road by Jimmy Murphy; Signatories at Kilmainham Gaol & Olympia Theatre (UCD) directed by Tony award winner Patrick Mason.

Past work includes Brendan Behan’s Borstal Boy (Gaiety Theatre), the World premiere of Anglo the Musical by Paul Howard (Bord Gáis Energy Theatre), Hamlet & King Lear by William Shakespeare, Agrippina by Handel for Irish Opera Collective (Dublin Fringe Festival, Solpadeine is My Boyfriend by Stefanie Preissner (Brisbane Powerhouse, Australia), The Field by John B Keane with Brian Dennehy, directed by Joe Dowling (Olympia Theatre).

Prior to establishing Verdant, Donal was Chief Executive of St Patrick’s Festival from 2005-2009 & managed the China / Ireland Cultural Exchange on behalf of the Department of Arts from 2002-2004. Other companies he worked with Druid Theatre, Opera Ireland, Liz Roche Dance Company and John Scott Dance Company.
